| PASS System Aids Lines By George Dooley |
Cruise lines’ ability to comply with new Department of Homeland Security rules known as eNOA/D (Electronic Notice of Arrival and Departure) will be made possible by PASS Consulting’s technology, according to Michael Strauss, CEO of the Miami-based PASS Consulting, the U.S. arm of a European technology firm. |
He said that PASS — the acronym stands for Process, Automation, System concepts and Solutions — technology provides cruise lines with a ready to use solution to the new eNOA/D requirements, which become effective on Oct. 4. |
Developed With Cruise Line Perspective The PASS system has been developed from the perspective of a cruise line, Strauss said, noting that PASS has worked closely with U.S. officials and two major cruise companies developing the electronic notification system, which can integrate with any existing IT environment. |
CBP is giving carriers (including cruise lines) 180 days to finalize programming their systems to allow for the transmission of the required passenger and crew data, which helps identify known or suspected terrorists prior to their arrival or departure. |
Strauss said that in addition to the eNOA/D system, PASS offers proven solutions for air, car and hotel bookings for travel agents. |
In addition to cruise lines, Strauss sees the travel industry as fertile ground for expansion of use of PASS technology. This includes industry suppliers, travel agents and agency consortia — all potential markets for PASS Consulting Corporation’s technology. |
| Travel agents and suppliers who want to learn more about PASS technology and its value can obtein more information at www.pass-consulting.com/usa or by calling (305) 269-6975. |
